THE NEW PROVISIONS ARE PART OF THE DCA’S COMMITMENT TO IMPROVING PLANNING PROCESSES AND ENSURING SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT.
The Development Control Authority wishes to inform the general public that the Land Development Regulations inclusive of the Saint Lucia Building Code and EIA Regulations, were enacted into law as per Volume 193 of the Saint Lucia Government Gazette dated November 1st, 2024. These new provisions are part of the DCA’s commitment to improving planning processes and ensuring sustainable development.
To align with these updates, the DCA intends to implement revised fees and new application forms which form part of the Land Development Regulations. These will be mandatory for all submissions effective March 1st, 2025 and not January 6, 2025 as indicated in Saint Lucia Government Gazette Issue 52 Monday December 23, 2024. The updated forms will streamline the application process and reflect the latest regulatory requirements.
These updates include:
- Land Development – enhance standards to promote responsible and effective land use;
- Building Code – clearer construction guidelines to ensure safety and compliance;
- EIA Regulations – new protocols for assessing environmental impacts to protect the natural environment; and
- Fee Structure – adjusted fees to better align with efficient delivery of services.
The updated application forms and detailed fee structure will be available for download on the DCA’s website within the second quarter of 2025. The hard copy of the forms will be available for purchase at the Survey and Mapping Section on the First Floor, Greaham Louisy Administrative Building, Waterfront Castries.
